TAMPA – Tampa
Electric is working to restore power to some customers in the area of
University of South Florida in Tampa. Almost
6,000 customers near I-275 and Fowler Avenue reported outages around 5 p.m.
Since then, almost half have been restored.
TECO did not give a reason for the power outage. The company expects to
have the rest of the power back up sometime tomorrow evening.
TAMPA – A burglary was reported at the FedEx distribution center located at TIA Monday night (February 16th). A task force of agencies including the Tampa Police Department, Transportation Security Administration, and other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security has been created to investigate the crime. No injuries were reported, and FedEx has indicated that there was minimal property damage, which will not impact its continuing operations. No items of a dangerous nature or threats to national security were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tampa Police Determent at 813-231-6130.
